WNBA romance erupts as NaLyssa Smith responds to DiJonai Carrington’s cheating allegations

Las Vegas Aces forward NaLyssa Smith went live on Twitch to respond after ex-girlfriend DiJonai Carrington accused her of a multi-player cheating scandal.

During the live broadcast, Smith refused to confirm or deny the allegations, instead asking why the Chicago Sky guard chose to reveal their private history a year after their breakup.

Carrington launched an argument on Threads that Smith cheated on her with Aces teammate Deja Kelly, Atlanta Dream guard Aaliyah Nye and others.

“Even if he cheated on me and I cheated on him, why are we bringing that up on the Internet a year later and no one has done anything? Whether he cheated on me or I cheated on him, that has nothing to do with anybody,” Smith said. “How? That doesn’t even make sense. And bringing it up online a year later, it’s crazy. Just for fun? That’s funny, especially when you’re in a happy, healthy relationship.”

Smith also criticized Carrington for dragging Kelly and Nye into a public feud.

“Then, to name people who have nothing to do with anything. These people mind their own business. These people woke up to this s**t on a random Sunday night with these allegations,” Smith said. “I think that’s weird.”

Describing the personal conflict that preceded Carrington’s outburst on social media, Smith said Carrington started the argument that ended with security going in.

“Here’s DiJonai. ‘You’re talking to that b*tch. You’re talking to that b*tch.’ Look at this. B* look at that. I’m like ‘Why do I have to be an a*tch?’ Literally on my grandmother’s grave, I’m like ‘Damn why I gotta be ab*tch.’ That’s how it all started,” said Smith. “I’m like ‘Who’s ab*tch?’ So, then there’s a commotion and I’m like ‘Damn what now?’ I look like a problem. So, then the security guard comes and he’s like ‘Okay you have to go.’ After all, I am the victim.”

Smith also denied online allegations that he was uninvited to keep information from Carrington.

“I didn’t do anything.” I’m sitting on the couch texting, minding my own business. I didn’t do anything to anybody,” Smith said. “So, the fact that people are trying to create this story that ‘Lyss came somewhere uninvited and came here to spy on people. I have to stop all those lies.”

Smith suggested that alcohol played a role in Carrington’s outburst.

“I think the alcohol, the cameras, his crowd, I think he’s kind of, somebody raised him to be confident,” Smith said. “But at the end of the day, that was bulls-t. We got to the place. People were chilling. Nobody did anything to anybody.”

The former Baylor teammates will meet on the field on August 1, when Carrington’s Sky welcomes Smith and the Aces to Chicago.
