Trump Defends Iran Deal at G7

NEWNow you can listen to Fox News articles!
President Trump yesterday talked about Iran, Barack Obama, artificial intelligence and Herbert Hoover.
He also talked about immigration, drugs, Ebola, “crazy” Graham Platner, California’s electricity problems, Ukraine and Joe Biden hiding from the press.
He also said the 2020 election was “flawed”.
He said Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum is a beautiful woman but “she is very scared.”
‘TRUMP SHOULD BE REVIVED’: IRAN DEAL FACED WITH ASSETS FROM CONSERVATIVE ALLIES
President Donald Trump attends a morning working meeting “to renew equitable, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth for the benefit of all” in front of the G7 countries, partner countries, the International Monetary Fund, and the OECD, as part of the G7 summit, in Evian, eastern France, on June 17, 2026. And he complained about “fake news,” saying the media has “little credibility,” singling out CNN and the New York Times, and calling ABC “terrible” and NBC and CBS “bad.”
It’s been more than an hour since the G7 summit in France, the president of the United States has been talking, some giggles or sobs, and ended with a joke that had some truth.
IRAN GOES NUCLEAR AGAIN AND THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ FACES TRUMP AS A VICTORY OVER US, ISRAEL
When Fox’s Peter Doocy asked why he wasn’t attending Friday’s signing meeting in Switzerland, Trump said he might but the plan was to send JD Vance.
“If it works, I’ll take the credit,” Trump said. “If it doesn’t work, I blame JD!”

This was surprising because Marco Rubio, who opposed the deal behind the scenes and is a possible 2028 rival for the vice president, has remained surprisingly silent about the deal for two days.
Before I get to the point, I have to point out one thing.
For all the repetition and boasting – did you know that our country was a laughing stock two years ago and now it is highly respected? Trump has shown an extraordinary command of the material. No one was studying, the president was just glancing at the notes.
I say this because of the recent focus on Trump turning 80 and sometimes closing his eyes or nodding briefly in meetings. I know this because during our last hour-long conversation, he handled anything I threw at him. So let’s cut through the dementia discussion.
Trump was defensive about the memorandum of understanding. He said that if Iran does not behave, “we will beat it with the Patriots.”
In a press devoted to the path of peace, he also threatened to bomb his new partner. Trump said the last two days of fighting were “brutal” because he dropped $200 million worth of bombs on the terrorist country, and he believes that is what persuaded the Iranians to sign the memo, which prompted him to call off a third day of bombing.
TRUMP REMEMBERS THE SUCCESS OF NETANYAHU’S SUCCESS IN KILL OBAMA Iran, SAYS HE FINISHED THE JOB
Pressed by reporters on whether the war had achieved his ambitious goals, Trump explained that he had achieved a regime change – which he recently said was not his intention – by killing the top two levels of Tehran’s leadership.
But the biggest argument was about money. The idea that Iran will receive 300 billion dollars has not been denied by the White House. This has led to some of the worst political attacks and media coverage, from all kinds of viewpoints, that I have seen since the last days of Watergate.
“We’re not paying 10 cents,” Trump insisted.

But this was just semantics. The US has frozen $300 billion in Iranian assets, so Trump says it’s “their” money and should be returned.
He also said that he does not care if Iran has missiles, because other countries have them, so it would be wrong to deprive the Iranians. Remember that some countries do not kill tens of thousands of their own people and fund terrorist groups that kill hundreds of thousands of others.
Republicans have led the charge to delay talks on Iran’s long-term goal of developing nuclear weapons. Trump said that Iran has agreed to never develop such weapons, but, of course, the Iranians are known for lying, cheating and breaking agreements.
TRUMP’S IRAN DEAL ‘GIVES MORE TO GET LESS’ THAN OBAMA’S, SAYS CENTA
Critics also say that reopening the Strait of Hormuz is taking us back to where things were before the war.
“Only stupid people” would say he should have continued bombing, the president said. He said he had avoided an “economic disaster” and that “we have prevented genocide.”
Iran has sustained $2 billion in damage, Trump said, and it will take 15 to 20 years to rebuild.
Besides, oil prices are falling rapidly.
Trump blamed Israel’s reaction: “I think they’re happy.” The truth is that Israel is furious with this arrangement, and Bibi Netanyahu said it was “his decision” but told reporters that “we have things we like.” Trump insulted Netanyahu for continuing his attacks on Lebanon and made sure everyone knew it.

Do not forget that this memorandum is only a page and a half, and Trump described it as a kind of framework for further negotiations. So it’s not really a “deal” so much as a mutual agreement to keep talking.
The president made news on the other side, though who knows if we’ll hear anything about it again.
He said he wants to start “denuclearization” talks with Russia and China in order to reduce the nuclear stockpile.
“We don’t need to be able to blow up the world multiple times.”
