A 21-year-old man is facing multiple charges after allegedly opening fire in a busy downtown Tucson early Sunday morning, injuring nine people before police brought him down.
David Leroy French has been charged with nine counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, nine counts of aggravated assault causing serious injury and firing a firearm into a building, a Tucson Police Department spokesperson told Fox News Digital.
French was held in absentia while he was hospitalized and will be taken to the Pima County Adult Detention Complex after his release, police said.

Additional costs are pending, said a department spokesperson.
The shooting broke out around 2 a.m. in the 100 block of East Congress Street, a busy area lined with bars, restaurants and nightclubs.
The provisional complaint said the shooting followed a verbal argument. Investigators identified French as the shooter after reviewing surveillance footage, according to the Arizona Daily Star.
Officers on patrol nearby heard the gunshot and rushed to the scene on foot, police said.

SEVERAL ROCKS CRASHED IN DOWNTOWN TUCSON COUNTY, LEAVING 10 INJURED.
Police said officers saw the suspect fleeing the area and repeatedly ordered him to stop.
After he ignored their orders, a police officer in uniform fired his weapon and hit him.
The suspect was taken into custody and given first aid before being taken to the hospital in a life-threatening condition.

Nine other people were shot and taken to local hospitals.
Police said most of them had injuries to their arms or legs. No deaths were reported, and no officers were injured.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department told Fox News Digital it is not releasing French’s gun at this time, citing a ruling by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
