Callum Walsh shoots for ‘great job’ with Tyler Denny coming out on top August 8 in Dublin live on Sky | Debate News

Callum Walsh plans to “do his best at work” when he returns to Dublin to fight live Sky Sports on August 8.

At the 3Arena, the Irish middleweight will face former European champion Tyler Denny.

He is looking to open new levels in his boxing. “I think there’s more to come. I’ve been looking for that one performance,” Walsh said Sky Sports. “I’m still trying to make it happen.

“It takes two to tango,” he added. “I’m doing everything I can here to try to be the best I can be tonight.

“It’s been a great career so far and hopefully I’ll have it in Ireland and finally have fun with the fight and show people what I’m really capable of.”

Yet Walsh knows that Denny, when on form, is a formidable opponent.

Walsh can’t wait to fight on the Zuffa 10 card in Dublin and predicts an electric situation

“I know he’s going to show up and he’s going to try to beat me. And I’m ready, I’m ready for the challenge,” he said in English. “He’s going to come and win and that’s what it’s all about.”

Walsh insists he won’t back down from a threat. He shoots with a gun.

“I’ve seen a lot of opinions saying there’s going to be an upset, he’s going to beat me. I’m looking forward to the challenge. I’m going to prepare as much as I can and I’m going to be the best I can be tonight and hopefully put in the best work and get him out there,” Walsh said.

“I think I need to mix it up, definitely be aggressive, 100%, and not let him get in that arena. Just bring the fight to him,” he added.

“He can go all out, go 10 rounds and if I can get him out there [win] really a clear decision. But my plan is to be aggressive and try to finish the fight.”

The situation in Ireland will be encouraging, if not overwhelming.

“You want to take the power and enjoy it, but you don’t want to take it too much and try to enjoy it too much and the next thing you lose the fight. So I stay very focused,” said Walsh.

“It’s only after you raise your hand that you can look around and look at the crowd.

“That’s the best part. When you look at the crowd, the sold-out arena and everybody’s singing and everybody’s happy, that’s when you really enjoy it.”

He remembered his previous fight in Dublin. “It was unbelievable the last time I fought at 3Arena. I was beaten in the second round and the crowd went crazy. I would advise people who come to bring an umbrella,” he laughed.

“If they’re sitting around the ring, bring an umbrella. There were beers flying everywhere. I was getting pints thrown inside the ring for the last time in the celebrations. It was raining inside the 3Arena. I’m looking forward to the crowd, the energy, the noise, it was unbelievable. So I can’t wait to get back there and do it all again.

“It’s going to be a great night. One of the best nights. It’s going to be a great card all the way.”
