Betting on the Bears in 2026: Super Bowl odds, winning odds and our best bets

Ben Johnson’s first year taking over the Bears couldn’t have gone much better, as Chicago went from a third straight finish to a division title and an overtime loss to the Rams in the divisional round. Although the offense finished in the top 10 in scoring for just the fourth time in the last 30 years, the team’s 11-6 record was built on more fourth-quarter comebacks than a large number of decisive victories. Johnson’s career in 2026 takes his team from a scrappy underdog to a serious contender in a full conference.

The Bears are tied for third in their division despite finishing with more wins than all teams last season. That may be because the Lions and Packers both had better point differentials despite the last standings, while the Vikings were behind. History has suggested that close scoring is not repeatable, so it may come down to a skill jump from Johnson in Year 2 to avoid a setback.

The Bears hit their Over for the first time in seven years thanks in part to posting their best margin since that incredible 12-4 season in Matt Nagy’s first year as head coach. That year, the Bears had a top-five defense, and finding success on that side of the ball again will be key to standing out in the playoffs.

Chicago Bears 2025 season review
| 11-6 | 9.11 | 5.70 (9) | 6.00 (29) | 2.5 (16) |
Chicago has positioned itself to win close games by pairing a powerful rushing attack (third in yards per rush) with an exceptional ability to avoid bad plays (first in interception rate, third in sacks). The success the defense has had stems from producing turnovers, as Chicago led the league in interception rate on that side of the ball as well. It’s unlikely the Bears will top the league in receiving rate from any unit in 2026 or stay strong in the division, and success must start with an improvement in finishing in the bottom five in yards allowed in both rushing and passing games.

The Bears entered last season embarrassed by their pass-catching wealth but traded DJ Moore to the Bills and didn’t get him out with a talent like this. Despite the unit’s overall struggles last year, the depth chart on defense remains largely the same except at safety, where the group looks to be led by free agent signing Coby Bryant and first-round pick Dillon Thieneman.

The prize for winning the division is six games played in independent windows on days other than Sunday, including two games against the other NFC division winners on Monday night. Even with the Eagles in Week 3, the first month of the season could be soft, so it’s important for the Bears to get off to a strong start if they want to repeat.

Chicago Bears futures picks
The Bears’ point differential suggested they were more like a nine-win team than an 11-win team last year, and I don’t think Chicago has done enough to improve their defense to expect them to get much better with each game if the turnover doesn’t fall off like it did last year. Taking this missed playoff bet comes at a cheaper price than playing Under 9.5 wins and I think the Bears are more likely to miss the playoffs at 10-7 than make it at 9-8 in a strong conference and division.
