Luke Littler steers clear of trophy after World Cup of Darts victory with Luke Humphries | Arrow News

Luke Littler aims to sweep all major archery trophies after his World Cup win with Luke Humphries.
Top-seeded Littler and Humphries secured their World Cup triumph with a 10-5 victory over Netherlands’ Michael van Gerwen and Gian van Veen.
This happened after their 8-7 victory over Jonny Clayton and Nick Kenny from Wales in the quarter-finals and their defeat of Gary Anderson and Cameron Menzies from Scotland 8-3 in the semi-finals.
The victory was England’s record-extending sixth at the World Cup, marking Humphries’ second time lifting the trophy after his 2024 win with Michael Smith and Littler’s first.
With World Cup glory now his own, Littler currently holds the World Cup, World Darts Championship, World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, UK Open, Grand Slam, Premier League, Masters, and Players Championship Finals.
He will defend his Matchplay, Grand Prix, Grand Slam, and Players Championship titles at the end of the year, meaning that the title that still eludes him is the European Championships.
Littler’s first points will be in Matchplay and you know if his game stays as it is, a clean sweep could be on the cards.
However, right now it’s about enjoying time with a man who is often her rival.
“Obviously personally, I think I should be looking forward to Matchplay,” Littler said.
“The question now is, am I going to lift all the high points this year? If I keep playing the way I’m playing, yes, I’ve got a great chance.
“Tonight, it’s not just my night, it’s our night together and we’re celebrating together.”
Although their rivalry will continue again in the next few weeks, Littler is confident that they will be back in 2027 to defend their World Cup title.
“100 percent. There’s no point in winning it and not coming back,” he added.
“I think the first game we played against Spain we just nailed it. We know we can score, finish and obviously we won together.
“We’ll be back next year.”
Humphries: We proved the doubters wrong in the end
While future trophies await both Littler and Humphries, their victory in Frankfurt was about redemption after a second-round exit on their debut in 2025.
Indeed, Humphries believed that only victory would prove the doubters wrong.
“Michael van Gerwen was unbelievable today. He’s back and playing unbelievable darts,” Humphries said.
“We knew we had to take advantage of those opportunities. If you give this Dutch team a little bit of hope, they will take it away from you.
“We played in that game the way I think everyone expected us to play in every game.
“Maybe we were lucky against Wales, but we ran with the luck we got in that game and showed how well we can play as a team.
“We had a lot of doubts. People didn’t think we could play well as a team, and play together, so I’m proud that we’re together.
“We worked hard and won together.”
