Super League: Hull FC beat Huddersfield to end Super League losing streak as Catalans Dragons bounce back with win over Castleford | Rugby League News

Hull FC and the Catalans Dragons have received motivational quotes for Saturday’s Super League clash.
Two tries from Ethan O’Neill helped Hull end a four-game losing streak at bottom side Huddersfield Giants with a 36-12 victory.
And in France, the Dragons responded to last weekend’s heavy defeat against Wigan in their exhibition game in Paris by edging out Castleford Tigers 34-28 for their second win in five.
Huddersfield remain bottom of the table with just two wins all season, while Hull edged past Castleford and moved into ninth place, one place behind the Catalans.
Hull tied the drop but there was no respite for the Giants
Huddersfield made the trip to Humberside an even worse trip than their hosts haven’t won since April 4, and Oliver Russell’s early points proved a false dawn.
The first half was tight, but home tries from Logan Moy and Jake Arthur put Hull 12-6 up, and Huddersfield broke away shortly after.
Arthur’s kick put O’Neill through for his first try of the season, while the forward’s second came later in the game after Amir Bourouh had scored on the hour and Harvey Barron had also crossed.
Aidan Sezer kicked 12 points and the late Giants rally produced only a consolation for Connor Wrench.
Hull manager Andy Last told Sky Sports after that: “Hopefully it gives us a little confidence to get the win with a strong performance. It makes the whole place a little bit different.”
Huddersfield manager Jim Lenihan – who is still looking for his first win in charge – said: “At half-time we were in a good place where we were competing OK, but mentally we let the game go.
“We are working hard and doing a really hard job, but at the moment other sides are working harder than us. We have to stay in the game mentally as well as physically.”
Dragons win in hot conditions
Temperatures reached the mid-30s in Perpignan as the Catalans hosted a Tigers side in respectable fashion that had won two of their last three.
But it was the home side who scored with a six-try performance – two each from Tommy Makinson and Solomona Faataape and Franck Maria and Toby Sexton.
They trailed by ten points at half-time, despite getting on the board with Jason Qareqare and Jack Brown, who played his first game, with the visitors trailing well before they started to fight back.
Joe Stimson tied the game with a kick-and-rush, and Krystian Mapapalangi’s double helped them get within four points, but it wasn’t enough.
