Knicks fans at JFK Airport go crazy as New York completes biggest comeback in NBA Finals history

Perhaps more surprising than the actual return of the New York Knicks on Wednesday night was when the best watch party in town took place.
Terminal 8 of JFK Airport.
New York rallied from 29 points down to upset the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, closing in on its first NBA title since 1973. The winning moment came at the hands of OG Anunoby, Jalen Brunson’s missed three-pointer that sent Madison Square Garden into a frenzy.
The Knicks won, 107-106, pulling off the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history.

The scene at MSG was crazy. It was pandemonium outside the arena and throughout the streets of New York City.
But what happened at JFK Airport was perhaps the best of all:
The Knicks’ incredible comeback shows why sports are the best
Yeah, that takes the cake for me. I don’t even like the NBA, but I could watch that video all day. This is why we watch sports, frankly. For times like that.
One minute, you’re sitting at the gate, waiting to board what I think is going to be another miserable flight. Next, watch the greatest comeback in NBA Finals history with a crowd of random, powerful people.

I would argue that only games can create that kind of moment. You don’t get that in politics or entertainment. We are all divided in this country but when it comes to sports it just goes out the window.
No one cares who you voted for when you’re locked out of the big game.
The only thing that matters is the logo on your shirt. All of our differences take a back seat, if only for a few hours, when the big game is on. We escape from the chaos of the real world, and we are trapped in our group.
And it doesn’t matter where you are, clearly. Whether you’re on the court, off the field, or miles away waiting to board a plane, we’re all locked up.
Knicks fever is taking over the country right now, as weirdly as that sounds in 2026. President Trump was at Game 3. Let me say that again.

The sitting Republican president entered the blue city, and attended an NBA game. Do you know how rare that was?
But sports provide the perfect outlet, and the perfect escape, for everyone. That’s why we watch, times like this this:

Perfection. Cinema. There are no notes. 10/10.
And it didn’t matter what you watched. You felt exactly the same.
Whether you were at the game, or getting ready to go out.
