‘I’m here to defend the club’ – Florentino Perez outlines Real Madrid’s bright future after winning election

Florentino Perez will continue to lead Real Madrid for another four years after being re-elected as club president until 2030, and the veteran spent little time explaining his ambitions for the future.
After the election result was confirmed, Perez addressed members and the media, celebrating what he described as another important victory for him and the party.

The president of Real Madrid began by highlighting the level of support he received throughout the voting process and emphasized that the result shows the trust the members of the club continue to place in his leadership.
Reflecting on the outcome of the election, Perez said, “We won the election and we will continue to work hard to continue winning trophies.
“We won in every polling station and got the second best result in Real Madrid’s election history. We also got the best result in 2004. It’s an extraordinary result.
“And I have to tell you that it would have been even better because almost 1,000 postal votes are invalid – votes certified by a lawyer – because of procedural problems, so we’re going to appeal, because we believe it’s fair.”
The president also thanked the party members for their support and praised what he described as a democratic and open system.
“Once again, you have shown your dedication and loyalty to the team. Today, Real Madrid has won.”
“As the president of Real Madrid, I am proud of all of you. It was a great election day, where the members expressed freely to decide the fate of the greatest club in history.”

Speaking directly to the fans, he said, “I’m still here, the members don’t know me, I’m here to protect Real Madrid.
“We will continue to work so that Real Madrid can continue to win titles, we will continue to be proud of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, which is the best stadium in the world.
“And let there be no doubt. Me as president, Real Madrid has always been a club for its members and will always be a club.”
Mourinho’s return and team unity
Apart from the election result itself, one of the highlights of Perez’s speech was his support for Jose Mourinho, who is expected to start a new chapter at the club.
“We are proud to have the best players in the world, we are proud that one of the best managers in the world is coming back, a real Madridista like José Mourinho.
“He showed the world what Madridismo is all about.
“What this feeling represents is the bringing together of millions of people around the world, including the Pope, who today, from faraway places, is prouder than ever of our Real Madrid.”
He concluded by emphasizing the importance of staying united and protecting the values that helped shape the team’s success.
