Jack Massey beat Chris Billam-Smith as a rookie, and he wants to do it again as a professional fighter | Debate News

Jack Massey has already beaten Chris Billam-Smith once, and he is sure he can again.

From 2013 Massey beat Billam-Smith to win the ABA national novice championship at Houghton-le-Spring. But Billam-Smith replaced him as a professional.

While Massey won the European title and challenged for international honours, Billam-Smith is a former British, European and world champion.

Cheshire’s Massey still wants to continue his rivalry with Billam-Smith.

“Definitely. You know he has a very hard fight too [against Ryan Rozicki]. He will have to take this out as well. But absolutely. It’s great that we’re all under this Zuffa umbrella now and we can make these 50-50 fights, these big fights, happen,” Massey said. Sky Sports.

Jack Massey defeated Isaac Chamberlain to take the European and Commonwealth cruiserweight titles after winning a tough unanimous decision.

Massey fights on Billam-Smith’s undercard this Saturday, live Sky Sportsin a heated contest against Tokyo Olympian Cheavon Clarke.

“We’ve been looking for tough fights my whole career,” Massey said. “We don’t shy away from fighting. That’s what boxing sells. You don’t want to go in there with someone who’s just going to throw him. He’s an exciting fighter, it’s a great fight for the fight fans. I’m No 2 in Britain, he’s No 3, it’s a domestic clash again. It’s going to be good.

“We’re big guys at this weight, everybody can punch. He’s an explosive inside fighter. We have to be careful. But he’s nothing we’ve seen before.”

Jack Massey blasted Steve Eloundou Ntere, rocking him with a two-layer combination before crushing him with a right arm.

Clarke was never set up as a professional. But Massey warned: “We’ll see how he takes my punches.

“We saw a few openings there and a few weaknesses that we can work on. I’m very confident going into this fight.

“I’m not going to look for a knockout. But that’s where it comes. If I’m ready and comfortable and relaxed. Not looking for it, not loading, it comes with time and speed.”
