Australia’s Johnson will face former Danish unification champion and No. 2 pound-for-pound fighter in the world Thorslund on the main bill of Super Value Promotions at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Saturday August 8.
Johnson, who is the WBA champion at the time, has joined the division after Thorslund vacated her WBC and WBO belts and pulled out of the Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano 3 July 2025 bill due to pregnancy.
Thorslund now has a chance to dethrone Johnson as the undisputed world champion, as they meet in the ring to settle their feud in a 10-round contest at 118lbs.
“I truly believe that everything happens for a reason, and that this fight has come together in a way that makes it so much fun! Now is my time to show what I really know,” said Johnson.
“This is a fight that I always knew would give me the best form, and I plan to do just that – take my belts home, take her pound for pound, and take the bantamweight title.”
The undefeated Thorslund said: “I’ve been waiting for this fight since I had to give up my two world titles due to an unexpected pregnancy. Sadly, I lost a child, and with that I lost not only the family I wanted, but also the titles I sacrificed for. That experience gave me even more hunger to come back and take back everything that was mine.
“Cherneka Johnson needs to be at her best against me, because I’m coming back with a level of motivation that I’ve never had before. And let’s not forget one important thing – I’m the only undefeated fighter between the two of us, and I’ll still be behind this fight.”
