Si Woo Kim just missed shooting a 59 in the CJ CUP Byron Nelson Round 2

Si Woo Kim is two inches away from setting the course and tournament record at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson Classic on May 22, shooting an 11-under 60 in the second round of the PGA Tour event.
His par putt of 59, a rarity at golf’s highest level, missed by a few inches.

Kim, 30, had a bogey-free round of 17 holes that included six birdies on the front nine of 30.
Kim tied the course and tournament record at TPC Craig Ranch – Keegan Bradley shot 60 in 2013.
The final two holes provided some drama, with Kim sinking a birdie putt on the edge of the green on the 17th, meaning the final hole par would give him the record.
Then on the 18th, Kim split the fairway off the tee, but he overcooked his iron shot to the green, sitting well behind the putt and another edge.
Playing with Scottie Scheffler, who holds the tournament record for four rounds, and Brooks Koepka, who both made the green twice on the 18th, both players marked their balls and cleared the way for Kim. His chip to the green didn’t work much and he had an 18-foot putt for par.

His putt started left but slid to the right of the hole. Kim’s first and only bogey of the day left him with an 11-under 60.
Kim is the 36-hole leader at the clubhouse at 18 under par. He will play in the final group in the third round on Saturday.
Jim Furyk remains the only man to shoot a 58, doing so in the final round of the 2016 Travelers Championship.
