‘We should be forever grateful’ – Barceloan star pays tribute to Lewandowski

While Raphinha stole the headlines on the pitch with a brilliant display in Barcelona’s 3-1 win over Real Betis, the emotional center at the Spotify Camp Nou was always going to be Robert Lewandowski.
The Polish striker played his last home game for Barcelona and received a farewell that perfectly reflects the respect and admiration he has built up during his time at the club.

From the fans in the stands to the players inside the dressing room, the night was a tribute to the greatest forward of his generation.
Raphinha’s praise for Lewandowski
After the final whistle, Raphinha spoke, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, about Lewandowski’s impact on the team and made it clear that the striker’s influence went beyond the goals.
“Since he came to this team, he has played a big role with his work, his goals, his character and his experience. I think the best thing we could do today is to present him with this hat.
“Obviously we wanted him to score a goal but it doesn’t matter, what was important was the love we all have for him.
“We’re all thankful for sharing the locker room with him. He’s been a role model,” he commented.

The Brazilian also explained the impact of the veteran forward, explaining, “Even when he is not playing, he is not getting minutes on the field, he has been an example, he has worked incredibly hard.
“From day one, until today, he has been the same person, the same hard worker.
“It was a source of pride to have him on our team,” Raphinha said.
Action towards Lewandowski
The Brazilian revealed that some seniors at the club want to make the night more important for Lewandowski.
Speaking about the decision to give him the captain’s armband, Raphinha explained.
“Ronald, Pedri and I were talking this morning and we decided that letting him wear the belt was the least we could do for him.
“In the locker room he was one of the role models and we are proud to be able to enjoy this time with him.”
Gavi’s study of Lewandowski
Midfielder Gavi also shared an emotional message after the game when he spoke about Lewandowski’s departure.

The young player admitted that the changing room will deeply feel the absence of the veteran striker, especially because of the guidance and advice he always gives to the younger players.
“We will miss him a lot, he is one of the best strikers in history, I wish him all the best, he always helped me with advice.
“He is a footballer, I have always listened to him because he is a brilliant player, it is a shame that he is leaving.”
Gavi also praised the professionalism Lewandowski has maintained throughout his career, especially at this stage of his football journey.
“Not all players can be in such a good condition at the age of 37. Lewandowski, although he has reached the end of his career, won many titles for us and scored a lot of goals himself.
“We should be eternally grateful.”
