Take Insane Clown Posse’s Violent J. He gave a compelling reason why he loves professional wrestling in a recent interview with Fox News Digital. He said it was Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat at WrestleMania 3 that helped solidify his love for professional wrestling.
“But wrestling, there’s nothing like pro wrestling in America,” he said. “There’s nothing like this bro. It’s like what a lot of people call a male soap opera, a man’s soap opera. It’s like you got two guys in the middle of the ring fighting, right? And you got 70, 80,000 people participating right now. It’s like you have a chance to create a character and sell that character, have that character and hold that character and not only act. but you also have to have adlib skills. You have to know how to adlib and spoke into the microphone to produce to put the es in the seats.
“You’ve got to make people want to see you kick that guy a– or make you want to come see him get revenge. You’ve also got to have the physical attributes. You’ve got to be able to get in the ring and tell that story. There’s a lot of mental warfare in wrestling. There’s a lot of mental that goes into it. You can throw back whenever you can’t throw back. You’ve got to know when you’re going to come back and you can’t just be successful whenever you feel the crowd and know how to get them up.

Violent J said there is nothing he can compare to pro wrestling. But “male soap opera” might be a better description.
He said being able to watch pro wrestling is something that gives him peace.
“There is so much out there and I don’t know what else I can compare it to,” he said. “There’s nothing like wrestling. There’s literally nothing else like it. It’s so different from everything else in the stratosphere that I’ve loved it my whole life. And now that I’m 53 years old, I get to enjoy watching it. Especially the age s—,. watching the s— that I grew up in.
It calms my anxiety. It’s like it’s been there all my life. So, it’s like watching that old video, it’s like therapy for me. It’s been there all my life. And then, like in my studio, I have posters of old wrestlers everywhere and everything, it seems to ease my anxiety. It’s like something that takes me back to my childhood, you know? So, wrestling like this, is in my heart. It’s in my blood. It’s in my DNA. You know what I mean? Just like music, but music is real therapy for me. Like, I need to make music or I’m going to explode.”
