UFC 329 — Conor McGregor vs. Max Holloway: Fight card, date and complete guide

Conor McGregor’s return to action is almost upon us. Five years after he was gone, fight week sounds like McGregor’s undercard has finally arrived. McGregor will face Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 329 on Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

A lot has changed since McGregor’s last appearance in 2021 when he broke his leg badly in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier. But what the fans don’t have is interest to see what this version of McGregor will look like after this time. The Irishman became a two-division champion in 2016 when he knocked out Eddie Alvarez, but has won just one since.

Holloway, on the other hand, won his title as champion in 2016. He won the interim featherweight title with a win over Anthony Pettis before tying it up with a TKO of Jose Aldo in Brazil. He followed up with another TKO in the rematch before doing the same to Brian Ortega. Holloway chose to move up to 155 pounds in pursuit of greatness where he was dethroned by Dustin Poirier for the interim lightweight crown. He returned to featherweight to defend his title again before dropping it to all-time champion Alexander Volkanovski.

But even so it does not finish his work. Holloway has fought eight times since McGregor last stepped foot in the Octagon, including a lengthy knockout of Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 and a stunning victory over Poirier in their rematch last July. Now, he wants more revenge on McGregor, 13 years later.

“The Notorious” Conor McGregor — a career in focus

The undercard was incredibly loaded on Saturday night in Sin City. Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett is coming off his first UFC loss in January to take on a rising contender in Benoit Saint Denis. The top bantamweights collide in the main event when former title contender Cory Sandhagen takes on Mario Bautista. Flyweight goalkeeper Brandon Royval looks to turn a new opponent in Lone’er Kavanagh. Lightweight heavyweights King Green and Terrance McKinney open the main card. In addition, former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker makes the move to light heavyweight for the first time against veteran Nikita Krylov. Also former Division I wrestling champion Gable Steveson made his UFC debut against Elisha Ellison in the prelims.
