PROVO, Utah — The lover of accused killer Charlie Kirk told Utah prosecutors that the suspected killer “wishes he hadn’t done it,” according to a video played in court Thursday.
“I just asked him personally if what he said last night was true, he said it was true, he started to cry a little and said he wished he hadn’t done it,” Lance Twiggs told investigators in the video.
The night before, according to text messages prosecutors later revealed, Robinson allegedly took credit for Kirk’s shooting in a conversation he had with Twiggs.

The video was played on the fourth day of Tyler Robinson’s trial — a step in the process of deciding whether a case can go to trial.
Prosecutors tried to play it up on Wednesday, but the defense attorney asked the judge to adjourn the case.

After some back-and-forth about what could and couldn’t be included, it was shown in court Thursday morning, and Robinson appeared to be watching closely.

Twiggs, who is cooperating with investigators and has not been charged with a crime, was Robinson’s lover and roommate, according to prosecutors. He said he identified “Luna” to other colleagues, including Robinson.

Twiggs was placed under FBI protection and has since left the country.
After the incident, Twiggs allegedly received a message from Robinson telling him to look under his keyboard. There, according to prosecutors, he found a letter that he claimed to have photographed.

Prosecutors pointed it out in court, but the judge said it could not be photographed. It was a full page, handwritten.
“I had a chance to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it,” it read at one point.
After seeing the paper, Twiggs allegedly texted Robinson asking if he was kidding.

“I’m all right my dear, but I’m still in orem for a while,” replied Robinson – allegedly. “It shouldn’t be long until I get home, but I have to hold my gun and not move. To be honest, I was hoping to keep this secret until I die of old age. I’m sorry to involve you.”
“Aren’t you the one who did the right thing?” Twiggs replied.

“I am,” Robinson replied. “I’m sorry.”
Twiggs also alleged in the video that Robinson began recording the bullets about a month before the shooting.

“I don’t remember exactly when, but he said he was planning to go hunting with his family,” Twiggs told prosecutor Ryan McBride in a taped interview. “And he asked me … if we had a Dremel tool, because he said he wanted to create messages with letters.”
Prosecutors said shell casings and spent casings found in the alleged murder weapon had several recorded messages. Another case with the same painting was found in the home shared by Robinson and Twiggs, according to testimony Thursday.
Several times when the Dremel tool allegedly used to carve the bullets appeared, Robinson appeared uncomfortable in court, shifting in his seat.
Twiggs said he told Robinson where to find the tool and warned him not to accidentally fire a bullet while filming – then thought nothing of it until after Kirk’s death.

The mention of this tool also seemed to influence the Robinson family in the first line of the gallery in court.
As Dremel’s conversation continued, Robinson’s brother had his head down, his mother rubbing his back, and his father’s arm around him.
Later in the trial, when the court saw a text message between Robinson and Twiggs, Erika Kirk could be heard crying as documents were read in court of Twiggs asking Robinson questions about the gun, which at the time of dispatch had been found by police in a wooded area near the school campus.

According to Twiggs’ video interview, Robinson allegedly told him he had a “long commute” the morning of the shooting.
“I don’t know the exact time,” he said. “I just know that he left early. I heard him leaving, he just said he had a long journey to work that day. So he left early.”
That was September 10, the day of Kirk’s murder at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Robinson allegedly stayed at the property until midnight on September 11.

When Twiggs said he woke up around 1:00 a.m. on the day of the incident, Kirk’s family members jeered from the third row of the gallery.
Robinson stood up and cleared his throat as Twiggs talked about the last time he saw Tyler before he turned himself in.
In one part of the video interview, Twiggs told investigators that Robinson looked like the man was walking around an FBI poster linked to the incident, which showed a person of interest at the school.
“They look like Tyler Robinson,” Twiggs said.
He had rejected the identity, however.
“I can’t say with 100% certainty just because of the quality of the camera, but that looks like him in terms of the shoes he’s wearing, the sunglasses,” Twiggs said. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen him wear that hat, but he used to wear a hat, and jeans.”

Twiggs did not testify in person at the trial but may be asked to do so if the case goes to trial.
At the end of Thursday’s hearing, Judge Tony Graf Jr. He indicated that he will not issue a decision at the end of the trial this week. Instead, he agreed to a defense request to allow both sides to file briefs before hearing oral arguments at a hearing scheduled for September 1.
Only then will he make a determination that there is sufficient reason to send Robinson’s case to court.
The 23-year-old accused of murder has not entered a plea and will not do so unless a judge agrees with prosecutors that the charges are warranted.

The hearing in September will be nearly a year after a sniper’s bullet killed Kirk during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.
Robinson could face the death penalty if convicted.
