Glamorgan captain Kiran Carlson guided his side to a long-awaited victory over Surrey in the Rothesay County Championship in Cardiff.
Their seven-wicket win was the Welsh team’s first red-ball success against home opposition since 1983 and handed Surrey their second defeat of the season.
Tom Lawes hit 66 not out as Surrey added a creditable 49 to their overnight total to set Glamorgan 195 to win.
The hosts struggled to assert themselves, with Billy Root run out after just four balls, but Carlson powered Wales to a fine 67 before Colin Ingram and Sean Dickson combined to ease home.

Resuming on 219 with four second innings wickets in hand, Overton and Thomas Rew extended their seventh wicket stand to 233 before Somerset were bowled out for 435 to lead by 313.

The visitors added 50 to their overnight total to post 296 runs to win. Durham began their campaign with aplomb, Daniel Bedingham’s 109 not out and an unbeaten 65 from Colin Ackermann easing them home in clear fashion.
Fateh Singh took the best figures of five for 74 as the host Worcestershire he also turned a game that looked like it was going to end in a draw into a five-wicket win Gloucestershire.
Fourteen wickets fell on Monday as Worcestershire, re-starting at 59 for one, bowled out their opponents for 185 runs to make themselves 87 for victory.
The hosts weakened, with Daniel Lategan out for a third-ball duck and Graeme van Buuren finishing with four for 36 but it was all for naught as Worcestershire limped over the line for the loss of five wickets.
Kent beat Middle sex with 49 runs for Canterbury Matt Milnes finished with five for 31 in the second innings as the visitors, who had set a possible 231 to win, were bowled out for 181 all out.
