Micah Parsons Injury Could Lead to Missed Game One
Micah Parsons, the Dallas Cowboys’ star running back, has an unblemished record of never missing a game due to injury at all levels of football. However, he may face his first absence this Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to a serious injury to his left ankle.
Acknowledging his frustration, Parsons said, “It’s really challenging, honestly. Going from being prepared and readily available in the group, to being sidelined is painful. I feel like I’m letting people down.”
Parsons Injury – Big Back for the Cowboys
On Monday, Parsons was seen wearing a protective shield and using a scooter, following his injury in the fourth quarter of Thursday’s win over the New York Giants. An MRI later confirmed that he had a high ankle.
The Impact of Injuries on the Cowboys’ Strategy
The Cowboys are also dealing with the absence of another top running back, DeMarcus Lawrence, due to a Lisfranc injury to his right foot. Although he does not need surgery, according to sources, he is expected to be sidelined for four to eight weeks.
Quarterback Jourdan Lewis commented on the situation, “These guys are the engine of our team. Their enthusiasm is contagious, and their absence is difficult. We must create strategies to compensate for their absence because their contribution cannot be changed.”
Parsons’ message to the team
Despite the injury, Parsons still hopes to play against the Steelers on Sunday. He shared, “For me, as long as I can run and move like I used to, I’ll want to play.” He also sent a rallying message to the defensive linemen, “Now is the time to step up. We’ve always preached a next-man-up mentality.”
Parsons expressed confidence in rookie Marshawn Kneeland, Chauncey Golston, and Carl Lawson, who was promoted to the practice squad two games ago. With Lawrence likely moving to injured reserve, the Cowboys will be looking for reinforcements along their defensive line.
