A local court in Ranchi sentenced a man for sleeping with his wife against her will. The court will issue a sentence on September 30.
A case was filed against a man, identified as Randhir, in 2015 for meeting his wife against her will in Ranchi under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
In 2016, the woman also filed a dowry case against Randhir. During the investigation, the police found evidence against him, and he was convicted after a trial of more than nine years.
The court will now announce the punishment on September 30.
Earlier this week, in another case, a 36-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district for raping his widowed mother.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 51,000 on the accused identified as Aabid.
This incident happened on January 16, 2023, when a 60-year-old woman and the suspect went to a farm near their house to collect fodder from the animals.
While her mother was busy taking fodder, Aabid attacked her, stuffed a cloth in her mouth and raped her.
After the incident, Aabid told his mother that he wanted to live like his wife, said the public prosecutor. He also threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident.
Although her son threatened her, the woman informed her neighbors, who in turn informed the victim’s young son about the incident.
