Abner Uribe apologized after the strike celebration that caused a stir.

In modern baseball, every celebration is praised, and anyone who criticizes it is treated like a buzzkill.

Milwaukee Brewers CEO Abner Uribe tested those limits on Tuesday.

With the Brewers leading 6-0 in the eighth inning, the 25-year-old defeated Alec Burleson and immediately began a series of WWE-style, D-Generation X crotch chops.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy was surprised.

“I don’t know what’s wrong with him,” Murphy said after the game. “I mean, he’s an emotional guy, but that kind of thing, it’s just not the way we do things. I was disappointed by it… It’s a 6-0 game. What are we doing there?”

Uribe later apologized to his colleagues for the ceremony. But that reliever backfired on Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol.

“First of all, everybody here knows me and knows who I am, and knows that I have a little history of being emotional outside,” Uribe said.

“I apologize to the Brewers, I owe an apology to my teammates, to my manager, to all the team managers. I understand that it’s not acceptable to go out there and react in this way.”

The Brewers reliever is no stranger to controversy. In May 2024, Jose Siri tried to swing at Uribe during a dispute over pit clearance.

“I don’t think it’s professional for their manager to show signs that he’s going to hit the boys,” Uribe continued.

“There was an incident that happened during training today, and I don’t think that’s right. I always mention my teammates.”

The fans quickly fell for Uribe’s antics. Anyone who agreed with Murphy was dismissed as a “wet blanket” by social media.

“Even Brewers fans are embarrassed by this,” BrewersWin wrote on X.

Others rely on dirt. “If they feel the need to kick us out tomorrow, so be it,” said one fan to X. “It means it worked.”

“Someone wears one in the ear for that,” another user replied.

But at the core of the conversation is a classic baseball question: Is Uribe actually good enough to sustain this level of disrespect?

So far, the numbers say no. Entering Tuesday, Uribe owned a shaky 4.42 ERA over 18.1 innings this season, a stark contrast to his 2.60 career average.

The Brewers ended up winning 6-0, closing out the win against their division rivals.

For one night, Uribe’s performance was clean enough.
