The rising cost of car ownership is pushing Pioneer to strengthen road safety

Pioneer Insurance is encouraging drivers and passengers to face each other on the road, as the country celebrates road safety awareness month.
With rising fuel costs, many Filipinos are adjusting the way they travel, whether by switching to motorcycles or electric cars, managing fuel consumption, or exploring alternative modes of transportation and routes. Despite these dynamic changes, road safety must remain at the highest level.
Road Safety Awareness Month, supported by bodies such as the Office of Land Transport and the Department of Transport, promotes responsible road use and aims to reduce accidents across the country. To support this initiative, Pioneer is asking drivers, passengers, and pedestrians to practice greater awareness and shared responsibility on the road.
“Together, we can make our roads safer by taking care of each other and being considerate of every driver, passenger, and pedestrian we encounter,” said Iluminado Garcia III, Head of Motor of Pioneer Insurance. “Safety is stronger when people pay attention not only to their journey, but to others around them.”
Motorcycles remain one of the most used forms of transportation, while autonomous vehicles continue to play an important role in everyday travel. With increased exposure on the road, simple actions – such as yielding, keeping a safe distance, avoiding phone use while riding, using the right safety gear, and staying patient in traffic – can help prevent accidents and create a more cooperative road environment.
Even with these precautions, unexpected situations can still occur, making preparation as important as prevention.
Pioneer supports motorists and passengers as a one-stop shop for a wide range of insurance solutions designed to help manage the financial impact of road accidents.
These include Compulsory Third Party Liability (CTPL) insurance required to register a vehicle, RideSure Comprehensive Motorcycle Insurance for passengers, and comprehensive motor insurance for car owners. For electric vehicle users, Pioneer EV One offers special coverage, including financial protection for range concerns, batteries, charging equipment, and loss of use.
“For riders in particular, being alert, staying in the right lane, wearing the right gear, and behaving well on the road can help a lot in preventing accidents and protecting everyone around them,” said Por Requinto, Head of Motorcycles at Pioneer Insurance.
As mobility continues to evolve, Pioneer emphasizes that safe travel is shaped by everyday decisions, where small thoughtful actions and shared responsibility help protect all communities on the road.
