Seattle Seahawks Face Injury Challenges Before Sunday’s Game
In Renton, Washington, Seattle Seahawks star running back Ken Walker III has been listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins due to a lingering injury. The injury sidelined Walker in Week 2 against the New England Patriots, but Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald remains “highly optimistic” about Walker’s return in Week 4. He believes the extra day off before their game against the Detroit Lions on “Monday Night Football” will be beneficial for Walker.
The Seahawks will have to compensate for the absence of at least two starters in Sunday’s game against Miami, with outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu (knee) and right tackle George Fant (knee) both ruled out. Jerome Baker, the team’s starting inside linebacker (hamstring), is also listed as questionable.
Optimistic Outlook for Injured Seahawks Players
Nwosu will miss the third straight week due to a sprained MCL in the Seahawks’ final game of the season. However, according to coach Macdonald, Nwosu is “improving quickly” and hopes to return to the field next week.
Walker’s injury occurred in the fourth quarter of the Seahawks’ opening game, causing him to miss Sunday’s win over the Patriots. Walker’s participation was limited in his first practice since being injured on Friday. Coach Macdonald said, “Ken Walker’s condition does not look good in the game at the moment, but he is working hard to recover.”
In Walker’s absence, Zach Charbonnet took over against the Patriots, participating in all of the Seahawks’ 70′ offensive snaps. Charbonnet finished the game with 69 yards and a touchdown from 19 carries. No other running back from Seattle got a carry or a target. Kenny McIntosh is the team’s third-string running back. The Seahawks’ practice squad includes George Holani and Brittain Brown, though Holani is currently nursing an ankle.
Mafe, Wallace, and Shenault Jr. They are expected to play
Despite the injuries, Macdonald expressed hope that outside linebacker Boye Mafe (knee), K’Von Wallace (shoulder), and wide receiver/kickoff returner Laviska Shenault Jr. (the feet) will be able to play on Sunday. After failing Wednesday’s tests, Mafe was rated two days ago. “He’s trending well,” Macdonald said. “It looks good today, so we’ll keep an eye on it over the next few days, but it looks good for Boye.”
Meanwhile, the statuses of linebacker Derick Hall (hip) and tight end Pharaoh Brown (foot) remain questionable.
