Robertson’s Surgical Procedure and Expected Return
Dallas Stars leading scorer Jason Robertson is expected to miss most of training camp due to a recent surgical procedure to remove a cyst from his foot. However, the team managers hope that he will return in top form as the season begins. The surgical procedure was performed on July 30, as revealed by General Manager Jim Nill. Despite Robertson’s absence from senior team activities in camp, he will remain with the team, monitoring his recovery progress. His latest return to skating, albeit solo, comes after a six-week layoff in which he was unable to bear weight on his foot.
Robertson’s Participation in Training Camp
Robertson will be taking a break from skiing with the rest of the team to make sure his foot heals properly, as Nill explained. “Maintaining his welfare and monitoring his recovery remains our top priority. We may see him very busy towards the end of camp. “At the moment, we are very focused on his healing process,” said Nill. The Dallas team, famous for reaching the Western Conference finals in the past two consecutive seasons, will begin its training camp on Thursday. The first game of the season is scheduled for Nashville on October 10.
Robertson’s Stellar career with the Dallas Stars
At just 25 years old, Robertson made his mark as the Stars’ leading scorer for two consecutive seasons, participating in all 164 regular season games. He also ranked as the team’s second leading scorer in the past two seasons. Last season, he scored 80 points, including a team-high 51 assists and 29 goals. The forward has an impressive 314 points in 292 regular season games, including 133 goals and 181 assists. In addition, he has scored 38 points (14 goals, 24 assists) in 45 playoff games.
Robertson, a California native, was selected by the Stars in the second round of the 2017 draft, the same draft that saw Miro Heiskanen and Jake Oettinger selected. Robertson faced a similar absence for most of training camp the past two years due to holding contract negotiations. However, he rebounded with 109 points (46 goals, 63 assists) that season, including a career high in 34 games. Coach Pete DeBoer fondly remembers Robertson’s words about his absence from camp: “It didn’t bother me the last time.”
