Today, history was made as President Donald Trump became the first US president to make a Bitcoin payment.

The former President showed up at PubKey, a Bitcoin-themed bar in the middle of Greenwich Village, New York City, to buy cheeseburgers (on National Cheeseburger Day) at the launch, which was crowded with Bitcoin enthusiasts there to welcome him.
“I think it’s a great place,” Trump told Bitcoin Magazine about PubKey, before appealing to the types of Bitcoin enthusiasts who tend to vote this November.
“Go out and vote, because if you vote, we will not lose.” We want to find everyone who agrees with you people – and there are many people – [to vote],” he added.
“They treated you very badly at the SEC, and we’re going to treat you very well.”
As for the payment, Trump said it was easy to make and went through “quickly and gracefully.”

After doing this, Trump, accompanied by one of the owners of the place, Thomas Pacchia, introduced himself to everyone present.
“This was one of the most important Bitcoin transactions of all time,” Pacchia said.
“President Trump came to PubKey to connect with the Bitcoin community — to show his support for the Bitcoin community,” he added.
“We are very happy to be here.”
