Sophie Cunningham traded in her Indiana Fever uniform for a microphone Wednesday night, and the veteran guard looked completely at ease in her new role. Less than 24 hours after helping the Fever secure a 105-95 victory over the Seattle Storm, Cunningham joined USA Sports’ in-studio broadcast team for a game between the Dallas Wings and the Atlanta Dream.

Yahoo Sports shared a look at Cunningham on set, where he broke down the action alongside the network’s regular studio crew.
“Sophie Cunningham has joined USA Sports’ studio broadcast team for Wings vs. Dream,” Yahoo Sports wrote on X, adding a fire emoji.
The appearance provided another reminder that Cunningham’s profile continues to grow beyond the basketball court. She has become one of the WNBA’s most visible personalities, and her speaking style seems like a natural fit for television.

Cunningham had little time to prepare for his latest broadcast assignment. The 6-foot-1 guard played 24 minutes for Indiana in Seattle on Tuesday night, finishing with 11 points, five rebounds and two assists. He made four of six shots, including three of four attempts from beyond the arc.
The victory for Indiana improved its record to 18-10 and extended its winning streak to four games. The Fever scored at least 100 points for the fourth straight game, continuing their onslaught coming out of the WNBA All-Star break. One night later, Cunningham was discussing the league from an entirely different perspective.

This assignment was not his first time on the air. Cunningham joined USA Sports as a contributor ahead of the 2026 WNBA season as part of the network’s new package. He previously gained television experience as a guest analyst for the Phoenix Suns during the 2022-23 NBA season.
Still, seeing a player in action go from a road game to the studio made Wednesday’s appearance all the more remarkable.

Cunningham continues to build a growing media career
Cunningham’s willingness to speak his mind has helped him become one of the league’s best players. His acting experience gives viewers a perspective that traditional broadcasters can’t always provide. Cunningham is currently competing against the same players he is asked to analyze, giving him first-hand knowledge of personnel, defensive schemes and locker room dynamics across the league. Wednesday’s game gave him plenty to talk about.
Dallas entered the night with an 18-9 record, while Atlanta entered at 16-10 and riding a three-game winning streak. The matchup also featured two of the league’s top stars in Paige Bueckers and Angel Reese, who drew attention with a literal first-half battle.
Cunningham has a lot of work ahead of her with the Fever, who have emerged as one of the hottest teams in the WNBA. However, his recent appearance in the studio showed that whenever his acting career ends, he may still have his next job waiting for him.
