There is no men’s 2027 Ashes Test in the north of England

England will begin their men’s Ashes campaign from Australia at Trent Bridge on June 18 next year, with the women’s series starting six days later.

The men’s second Test at Lord’s starts on 30 June and the third at Edgbaston on 8 July.

The Utilita Bowl in Southampton will become the tenth UK venue to host a men’s Ashes Test when the fourth Test begins on 21 July, with the series concluding at the Kia Oval from 29 July.

The multi-faceted Women’s Ashes will be held from June 24 to July 20 as the two matches are back-to-back as in 2023.

The men will not play Tests in the north of England after Emirates Old Trafford and Headingley were not selected to host matches.

The decision was criticized by now prime minister Andy Burnham – then mayor of Greater Manchester – when it was announced in 2023.

England, who lost 4-1 in Australia last winter and are without a Test coach after the sacking of Brendon McCullum, will prepare for the Ashes by facing Bangladesh in a one-off Test at Lord’s starting on May 28.

Australia will play a warm-up match against the England Lions at Old Trafford from 7-10 June as part of a new international reciprocity agreement to organize “high-quality opposition on an international stage”.

England Women, thrashed 16-0 by Australia in 2025, will look to win their first Ashes Test since 2014 when the series begins with a four-day match at Headingley from 24 June.

The teams will also play three T20s starting on July 3 – at Trent Bridge, The Oval and Old Trafford – and three one-day internationals starting on July 13, at Southampton, Lord’s and Edgbaston.

In a multi-format series, a win in a Test is worth four points and each win in a white-ball match is worth two.

The BBC Test Match Special will feature ball-by-ball coverage of the Ashes series, while the BBC Sport website and app will feature live video clips of all the key moments. Highlights will be available on BBC TV and iPlayer.

The England and Wales Cricket Board announced on Wednesday that England’s mixed-disability men’s team will face Australia next summer, although the schedule has yet to be confirmed.

England men’s summer 2027 will begin with a five-match ODI series against Pakistan in May, before finishing with three T20s and five ODIs against New Zealand in September as they prepare for the 50-over World Cup starting in October.

England Women will host Bangladesh for a three-match T20 series and a three-match ODI series in September.

The men’s World Test Championship final will be held at The Oval from June 9.

The warm-up match between Australia and the England Lions will be reviewed if the visitors reach the final.

The Ashes will end the red ball marathon in Australia, which will host Bangladesh in two Tests in August, visit South Africa in three Tests in October, welcome New Zealand in four Tests at the end of the year, compete in five Tests in India in January and February and do one Test against England in March which will bring together 150 years of Test cricket.

Old Trafford, which was due to host a Test in 2027 – according to the stadium allocation made in 2023 – will host an ODI against Pakistan.
