Formula 1 hits the road for the last time before its summer break at one of the most famous venues on the calendar as the global battle continues at the Hungarian Grand Prix, live on Sky Sports.
The 11th round of the season in Budapest is the last race for four weeks and is therefore an important opportunity for the competitors to sign off before they go on their holidays.
Kimi Antonelli will be full of confidence after last week’s dramatic victory in Belgium while his Mercedes team-mate George Russell retired after a collision with Lewis Hamilton on the first lap.
Antonelli trails Hamilton by 45 and 50 points ahead of Russell in the Drivers’ Championship and is likely to be the driver to beat at the Hungaroring.
But, the characteristics of the track should suit Ferrari as there are many corners so you can say that Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will win.
McLaren have gone 1-2 in the last two years and the world champions will be hoping their development package can see them through in the battle ahead.
Hungarian GP track – Hungaroring
The Hungarian Grand Prix has been on the F1 calendar since 1986 and is one of the most popular events for fans.
It is famous for its rugged, winding nature and has been called ‘Monaco without barriers’ due to the difficulty of passing.
However, it has improved some classic races over the years, including Michael Schumacher’s stunning victory in 1998, Jenson Button’s maiden victory in 2006, mixed conditions that caused chaos in 2011 and 2014, and Esteban Ocon’s stunning Alpine victory in 2021.
Turn One is the main pass area, although battles often continue down to Turn 2 and up the hill towards Turn Four. The middle factory is all about mechanical grip and keeping the tires alive in the last few slow corners.
Weather for the Hungarian GP Budapest
In keeping with much of Europe’s summer so far, dry conditions are expected throughout the Budapest weekend, although temperatures, while warm, are not predicted to be as intense as at other events recently.
