Alycia Baumgardner could be in line to fight Dubois

Alycia Baumgardner previously insisted that Dubois still needs to prove herself before the American agrees to fight the unified world lightweight champion.

Dubois took aim at Baumgardner and called him a top contender, saying the clash “has to happen sooner rather than later”.

“He’s lost right now,” Dubois said. “He has no opponents. He wanted the Katie Taylor fight but that didn’t happen, he wanted the Amanda Serrano fight but that didn’t happen, so who is he going to fight? Absolutely none.

“There is no one who can enter the ring with me at my level, I say that with respect but I know that I am the one who got away the most.

“We will build a war. I want to be uncontested and he will have no more conflicts. All we can do is build and make that war avoidable, undeniable, and undeniable. That happens by not being uncontested.”

Baumgardner believes Dubois avoids fighting him

A 10-round junior middleweight unification fight between Mikaela Mayer and Chantelle Cameron will headline the main card in Birmingham and Dubois said: “It’s a close fight – I’m split. Mikaela Mayer has more ratings but then I get up and I think Chantelle Cameron is a beast. She’s going to bring the pressure home and she’s got pressure.

“It’s a 50-50 fight. I know it’s going to be a big fight.”

‘Taylor is the goat’

Dubois said he would have liked to fight Irish star Katie Taylor

Coach Shane McGuigan commented on the MVP’s interest in a big fight with Irish boxer Katie Taylor, who will end her professional career with a fight against the undefeated French fighter. Flora Pili at Croke Park in Dublin on Saturday September 5th.

“Katie Taylor is a goat,” Dubois said. “She’s a champion and she deserves to fight whoever she wants to fight. She sold 80,000 which is amazing. It doesn’t matter who’s in the corner. This is about Katie Taylor. It’s not about the fight!

“He’s getting as much sunset time as he wants. I’ll be rooting for him. No one can take offense to who he’s fought and who he’s been in the ring with and how tough he’s been all these years.

Natasha Jonas, who has not fought since last March, admits that only a ‘big event’ would tempt her to return to the boxing ring.

“I will be supporting myself 100 percent [if I had the chance to fight her] and it would be a terrible battle to have. I would love to fight him coming out of the 2012 Olympics.

“It’s not going to happen and I’m not focused on that. If there weren’t other women fighting I’d be sad, but I have big names.”
