President Donald Trump, fresh off a trip to meet face-to-face with China’s Xi Jinping, is considering restarting the war against Iran, and will speak with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday.

“Our eyes are open again regarding Iran,” Netanyahu said on Sunday morning, as translated from Hebrew. “I will speak today, as I do every few days, with our friend President Trump.

“Of course I will hear what comes out of his trip to China, maybe other things. There are certainly many possibilities, and we are prepared for all situations.”

Trump is staying at the White House on Sunday, but there are no public or media appearances on his schedule.

The call with Netanyahu comes amid reports by Fox News about a regional intelligence probe into Iran’s possible resumption of military strikes due to Trump’s frustration with Iran’s strategy amid the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the rejection of his request to give up its nuclear weapons ambitions.

“The assessment inside Iran is that President Trump may restart the war, and Tehran is now deliberately pursuing a strategy of ‘deception and delay’ in hopes of buying time to make it difficult for any return to war,” two regional intelligence officials told Fox News.

Intelligence officials believe the Iranian regime thinks it can delay developments and prolong the crisis for at least two more weeks, to make the situation more difficult for Trump to restart the military campaign, both politically and operationally.
