IndyCar may have found a pillar with Arlington Grand Prix returning in 2027: ‘Bright future’

IndyCar’s Grand Prix of Arlington will return to the streets of Arlington, Texas, for a second season, the event announced Monday. After holding the first race, won by Andretti Global’s Kyle Kirkwood, in March, IndyCar will race at Arlington again on March 21, 2027.

Penske Entertainment, IndyCar’s parent company, is partnering with the Dallas Cowboys and REV Entertainment, official event partners of the Texas Rangers, to bring the race to life for the first time in March. The 14-turn, 2.73-mile road course (the longest of the six road courses on the 2026 IndyCar schedule) drew rave reviews from drivers and teams, making a return unlikely. Just one day after this year’s race, the event’s official website allowed fans to sign up for updates about the event’s future and tickets.

“From the sold-out grandstands to the incredible support of our fans, partners and the Arlington community, the response to the inaugural event has been extraordinary,” said Bill Miller, president of the Grand Prix of Arlington. “Building on the momentum from this first year, 2027 will bring even more enhancements and memorable experiences to our guests.”

More than 20,000 fans filled the stadiums for the race, which also received 1.336 million viewers on Fox. It was the first IndyCar race in the Lonestar State since Texas Motor Speedway (Fort Worth) was pulled from the schedule following the 2023 season.

“It’s definitely a new standard,” IndyCar President Doug Boles said after the race. “And I think as we move forward in the next few years, we’re going to need to make sure that we step up, so when you go to those events, it feels like it did when we went to Arlington.”

A source told IndyStar that IndyCar has not confirmed the length of its deal to return to Arlington, but the series “looks forward to a bright future on the streets of Arlington.” Given the success of this year’s event, the Grand Prix of Arlington — which retains Java House as its presenting sponsor through 2027 — appears to be a mainstay on the IndyCar calendar for the foreseeable future.
