Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal and his wife Grecia Munoz turned heads recently as they took on an all-day food delivery job to experience the struggles of delivery managers. On Sunday, Goyal shared a video revealing that he was barred from using the main entrance of Gurugram’s Ambience Mall while delivering food, leaving him with no choice but to take the stairs.

In the video, Goyal—who is seen wearing a Zomato delivery uniform—shares that the company has realized that it should tie up with supermarkets to improve the working conditions of delivery agents. “When I ordered the second time, I realized that we need to work with the shopping center nearby to improve the working conditions of all delivery partners. And supermarkets also need to be more humane to delivery partners,” the video said.

Further, Goyal shared that he was told to take another entrance to Ambience Mall when he came to pick up Haldiram’s order. “We came to Ambience Mall in Gurugram to collect the order from Haldiram. I was told to take another gate, I saw that they asked me to take the stairs. It also entered the main gate to ensure that there are no elevators for people making deliveries,” he said.

The Zomato official went on to say that he took the stairs to the third floor when he found that the delivery people had to wait on the stairs to take food orders. “He took the stairs to the third floor to see that we cannot enter the mall and we have to wait on the stairs to get orders,” he said.

A video that is now going viral captures Goyal sitting down with other delivery workers and chatting. “I am happy with our delivery partners as I get valuable feedback from them,” he added.

The user wrote, “Every community, every shopping center and every office should make it mandatory for delivery partners to use common elevators and check-in/check-out.
