To make India a developed nation by 2047, it is important for the country to set big goals and for the youth to step out of their comfort zones, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a meeting of young leaders of Viksit Bharat on National Youth Day on Sunday.
He said that India has made rapid progress in the last ten years and the youth will inspire massive change to achieve the dream of ‘Viksit Bharat’. The youth will also be its main beneficiaries twenty years later, he said.
“For any country to move forward, it is important to set big goals.” Goals are our life blood, our tonic. We have seen in the last decade that we have been setting big goals and we are achieving them, be it deciding to be liberal without liberalizing or providing bank accounts to all Indians,” said the Prime Minister.
“I fully believe that your generation will not only disrupt the change but will also benefit greatly. We have to step out of our comfort zone; it is a dangerous place to be. To move forward, we have to take risks,” said Modi.
Modi said that the youth must embrace the Viksit Bharat goal and assured them that the ideas presented during the discussions will be part of the country’s policies.
He said: “In the 1930s, the US faced an economic crisis, but decided to get out of it and accepted the New Deal. There was a time when Singapore was in a bad state but with the right leadership and morals, it became a developed nation and a major trading center. We also wanted to be independent. We struggled, we sacrificed, and we got freedom under British rule.”
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that with a large number of young people, India will have a good time in the next 25 years. “I can envision a Viksit Bharat, economically, socially, and strategically strong. This is the time for India to leap and it will happen only by following our visions. “
He said that since India’s economy is growing rapidly, it is able to spend a lot of money on infrastructure, railways, roads and overall development. “As the economy grew from $1 trillion at the end of the first decade of the 21st century to nearly $4 trillion, development work gathered steam and opened up opportunities for everyone, including the youth. If your work is developing in this growing economy, think about the opportunities you will all have,” he said. “By 2047, we will make India a developed country. That is the goal we must follow.”
