“We understand that being the Minister of the Interior of the Union, you have big responsibilities. “He must have been under a lot of pressure to spare time for a whole day’s visit,” said the mother of the deceased doctor.
On October 27, Mr. Shah made his first visit to Bengal after the Lok Sabha polls in April-May and after the rape and murder of a doctor on duty at the government-run RG Kar Hospital on August 9, which sparked protests across the country.
State BJP leaders said they would try to organize a meeting between Mr. Shah and the parents of the drug, but it did not happen.
“Maybe we will be able to meet him one day in the future,” the mother told a Bengali news channel ABP Ananda.
The parents criticized the newly formed Junior Doctors Association, which is considered to be the same platform of the West Bengal Junior Doctors Forum which has been moving in various ways to demand justice for the doctor who died without strict security measures in government hospitals.
“What is the position of this new association? Did they protest after the death of our daughter? Most of these members of the association are known to be part of the Trig Culture Brigade,” said the mother.
Agitated young doctors have been saying that a dangerous culture exists in the public health care sector, in which half of the doctors, teachers and officials are involved.
The mother also recalled how their daughter used to decorate their residence with lamps on the day of Kali Puja every year.
“After the fireworks, we (parents and daughter) used to go to the pandal and eat outside. This year our house is covered in darkness. We pray to Goddess Kali to punish all those involved in this crime,” he said.
