The cast of Yellowstone share everything about the new season without the star Kevin Costner – including how little they knew what was going on with their characters when they received the documents.
“In reality everything is black except your lines,” Jen Landonfarm hand Teeter, said in a video teaser released by Paramount Network on Friday, September 27.
Dawn Olivieriwho plays Sarah Atwood, added, “I don’t know what he did, he doesn’t know what I’m doing. We can’t tell each other.”
Kelsey Asbillewho plays Monica Dutton, explained, “This season was very secretive.”
Other actors who appeared in the video include Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Luke Grimes again Cole Hauserwhile Costner – who played Dutton’s patriarch John Dutton and exited the series after the first half of the final season – surprisingly did not appear in the clip. How the series will handle his exit is yet to be wrapped up.
While news details are scarce, viewers have been promised that there are “a lot of surprises” in store for the finale.
“It brought me to tears, and I think people are going to really like it,” Grimes, 40, said.
Fans got a glimpse of what to expect in the second half of season 5 in the stunning first trailer, which was released in August.
Despite his much-discussed exit from the show, Costner did appear in the teaser, albeit in flashbacks from previous seasons. “Inheritance. “If you build something that’s worth having, somebody’s going to try to take it,” Costner (as John Dutton) says in the clip.
An interesting note about the show’s teaser, however, is that it didn’t say anything about this being the final installment of the show, as the new episodes are described as a “dramatic return” Yellowstone instead of leading to the end of its series.
Paramount Network announced in May 2023 that Yellowstone it would end with season 5B, which was scheduled to premiere in November of that year, but production was delayed due to two strikes by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA. Costner confirmed his exit in June, one month after the network announced the final season.
Although fans of the Western game were saddened by the show’s cancellation, an August report from an industry newsletter The Puck he said the show is coming back for a sixth season, and that many of the stars are in talks to sign contracts. It has not been confirmed that the show will continue for a 6th season.
