If you were to come in next month Captain America: Brave New World hoping to see Anthony Mackie duke it out with Seth Rollins, the WWE star said you should leave your expectations on the ticketing app.
In a recent interview with Chris Van Vilet, Rollins said that he will not appear in the film. Back in the middle 2023was shown on set, leading fans to speculate that he was playing a member of the Snake Society. Marvel has never officially confirmed his casting, and Rollins was vague about who he would be. Uncertainty about his NDA, he could only say Brave New World script “we went through a lot of rewrites and reshoots. […] In fact, my role was retargeted or completely erased.” He also auditioned for another role, or a “remake” of his original part, but neither option came up.
“I will say frankly that I am not in the movie,” he continued. Rollins was like that a lot insisted on letting his fans down, he told Van Vilet that he didn’t want fans to think he was pulling an Andrew Garfield. “I don’t want those people to waste their time, and I don’t want to give bad news to anyone. […] “They ended up going the other way with it. Marvel knows they have a finished product that hopefully they’re happy with, and hopefully it’s successful. But [Brave New World] it will be sans Seth Rollins. Marvel is doing a good job, it should be good. “
Except for the nixing Rollins part, Brave New World problematic production has been well known. Its release date was pushed back several times, and production was temporarily halted when the Hollywood strikes began. After the end, the film was reshot several times and rewritten, allegedly due to negative reviews. Early reports said three “huge sequences” were cut from the reshoots, but Anthony Mackie has since described them as “just a few scenes”.
This isn’t the first Marvel movie to be rebranded, but its bad luck (and the cultural background surrounding Sabra, one of its main supporting characters) surrounds the movie longer than usual. We will see how Captain America: Brave New World it finally hits theaters on Valentine’s Day.
