West Bengal: Trinamool leader Buli Murmu alleges assault for refusing to pay dues, BJP responds

Trinamool Congress (TMC) Gram Panchayat Pradhan Buli Murmu alleged that he was beaten up by his party colleagues because he refused to pay the “fixed amount” from the money allocated for road construction. The incident, which reportedly took place at the panchayat office on Monday afternoon, has created a stir and added to the ongoing political rivalry in West Bengal.

Murmu, a tribal woman, filed a detailed complaint with the District Superintendent of Police on Tuesday, detailing her plight. He pointed out that despite donating 4% to 6% of the funds for the previous panchayat programs, he was forced to give more money to the TMC district president and chairman.

Murmu went on to say that the torture was worse because he is from his own country, the attackers using insults and insults to humiliate him.

Murmu expressed his displeasure with the way the local police handled the case, as he was advised to approach the Gangarampur police station instead of getting immediate help.

The incident drew heavy criticism from BJP West Bengal President Sukanta Majumdar, who attacked Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the ruling TMC.

Majumdar accused the TMC of fostering a culture of impunity and failing to protect its members from internal criminals.

“Women leaders of Trinamool Congress are being attacked by thugs in their party,” Majumdar said.

“A tribal woman, an elected gram panchayat pradhan, was brutally beaten in her office for refusing to comply with demands for ‘reduction of funds’. The assailants not only physically assaulted her but also used insults to humiliate her and silence her. This is a shocking example of lawlessness within the TMC.”

Majumdar also criticized the police for not doing anything, calling it “blatant dereliction of duty” and accused the Chief Minister of protecting the perpetrators.

“Mamata Banerjee’s silence on this matter is disgraceful. Being involved in protecting these criminals is a betrayal of the people she claims to represent,” he added.
