It shouldn’t be like that this is cheap enough to fully enjoy the sound of John Wick as he breaks the neck of a real NBA player with a book. But for about $200 (a few cents on sale), you can get a 5.1 sound bar system from Vizio that lets you hear the subtle crack of his spine as a lightly stabbed Keanu Reeves twists his leather-bound enemy just like that, in the intro. in the third installment of the franchise.
This type of immersion would have cost hundreds more, if not thousands. A small, understated 33-inch main sound bar and surround speakers with thin wires and a wireless subwoofer to create this 5.1 system. The only aftermarket item you may need is a pair of rear speaker stands, unless you plan to wall mount them (including mounting holes for these).
One advantage that is only available to those with Vizio TVs is the quick fit system, which allows you to easily remove this bar under the latest model of Vizio TVs. This makes this bar a great choice especially if you’re considering a TV like the latest Vizio 4K model we recently reviewed (7/10, WIRED Recommends).

The main downside to this system, and the reason why it costs so much less than other options I’ve tested that produce sound of this quality, are those cables. They’re about 20 feet long, which is long enough to work in average living rooms or apartments, but having a wired router is more annoying than wireless systems.
Once you’ve set it up, it’s as simple as connecting a single HDMI cable from the main bar to your TV, at which point the eARC magic takes over and you can use the bar to your heart’s content. As long as your TV is new enough to have ARC or eARC, you can use your TV remote (or me, TV then laser remote) to adjust the soundbar volume without having to touch the remote of Vizio installed. .
