AH Vishwanath, MLC, urged the State government to review the implementation of reservation under section 2A in the State.
Speaking to the media here on Thursday Mr. Vishwanath said that the entire 2A sector has been violated by various communities to claim reservation benefits. He said that in the beginning only 15 young people were included under it but over the years many other young people found society including making fun of this program.
He said that there seems to be no coherent policy on the issue and it is time for the Siddaramaiah government to review the entire system. Social Welfare Minister HC Mahadevappa hid by not taking up the issue and said that the entire process should be reviewed to exclude those who are not eligible for reservation under section 2A which was sought by people belonging to other castes and subcastes.
“It is not enough to make speeches about BR Ambedkar and the Constitution. It is important to examine how constitutional mechanisms were used in their true spirit. You are not a Minister to give speeches, you have to work,” he said referring to Mahadevappa.
Mr. Vishwanath also criticized the BJP for supporting the Panchamsali petition for their inclusion under section 2A and said that the political party has no ideas and principles. ”They oppose anything for the sake of opposing the government,” he added.
