A task force of the Telangana Food Safety Commissioner conducted inspections at popular restaurants on Nagarjuna Sagar ring Road near LB Nagar in Hyderabad on Wednesday (October 9, 2024) and found several hygiene violations.

At Urban Mayabazar – Family Bar and Kitchen, teams found that the restaurant was infested with flies, and the back door was not properly closed, allowing insects to enter. Medical fitness certificates for food handlers and water analysis reports for water used as an ingredient were not available. Improper food storage practices were also noted, with refrigerated food items covered but not labelled. Additionally, open dust bins without lids and suspected use of food coloring in non-vegetarian containers led to hasty disposal of items, the release said.

The parties found that the At The Tree Stories restaurant was operating with an expired FSSAI license. There were no insect screens on the windows, and the doors were not properly sealed to prevent the entry of insects. Medical fitness certificates for workers and pest control records were missing. Inspectors also found expired food including beans and discarded baked beans. Rat feces were found in the storeroom, indicating a possible infestation.
