UP village head representative ‘forced to lick his saliva’ by police, investigation ordered

“The local police allegedly forced the representative of the village head in Nasirabad area here to lick his saliva for ‘creating chaos’ during the ‘nautanki’ program which was organized without the permission of the authorities,” officials said on Sunday (November 2, 2024).

Superintendent of Police (Raebareli) Yashveer Singh said the allegations are being investigated by the additional superintendent of police and action will be taken based on his report.

“Sushil Sharma, representing head of Kapurpur village in Nasirabad, organized ‘Nautanki’ program without permission on October 30,” Mr Singh said in a statement.

“In this program, he and his associates did not behave well with people and caused trouble when they were drunk with alcohol. The defendants also misbehaved with the police team at the local station after which five people including Mr. Sharma were arrested,” he said.

Mr. Sharma, said a police team came to the house late at night and asked him to stop the nautanki programme.

Mr. Sharma said he and four others were arrested and beaten up at the local police station while he was being licked.

He also accused Nasirabad SHO Shivakant Pandey of demanding an extortion of R2 lakh from him.

Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Panchayati Raj Gram Pradhan Sangathan on Saturday (November 1, 2024) submitted a written complaint to the SP, seeking action.
