“Punjab police have arrested two people in connection with the bomb attack on the Islamabad police station in Amritsar,” officials said on Saturday (December 28, 2024.)
The attack was carried out in the early hours of December 17, 2024, although no one was injured in the incident.
Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Saturday (December 28, 2024) said that Amritsar’s special cell has busted a narco-terror module used by controllers from abroad.
“Gurjeet Singh of Dande in Amritsar and Baljit Singh of Chhapa in Tarn Taran have been arrested. Arrested people carried out a bomb attack on the Islamabad police station on December 17, 2024,” said the DGP in the X post. “So far, 1.4 kg of heroin, one hand grenade and two revolvers have been recovered,” he said. ” Further investigation is on to trace the entire network,” the DGP added.
After an explosion-like sound was heard at a police station in Islamabad on December 17, the Punjab Police called it an “attack” with the DGP ordering strict action against the perpetrators.

The DGP visited Amritsar on the same day where he held a meeting with the police to review the law and order situation and directed the officials concerned to ensure professional policing and take stern action against the perpetrators.
Several incidents of bomb attacks on police stations have been reported by the State in recent times, although no one was injured in those incidents. Two days after the Amritsar incident, a similar attack was reported from Gurdaspur district.
On December 30, three suspected Khalistani terrorists suspected of involvement in the bomb attack on the Gurdaspur police station were killed in an incident in Pilibhit in an operation by the Punjab Police and the Uttar Pradesh Police.
