Trista Sutter he was not alarmed by the rumors surrounding him either Ryan Suttermarriage when he appeared Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Experiment.
“Everyone is quick to think the worst,” Trista, 52, said to herself Us Weekly while talking about his life Special Forces. “I think it’s human nature to be honest. I mean I didn’t know what was going on in the world. I say, ‘You’ve all lost your minds.’ Sorry, but why is there such a fuss about this?”
After posting a series of cryptic posts on social media in May 2024, Ryan, 50, sparked concern from fans that he and Trista were on the rocks. After Ryan revealed that Trista would not be spending Mother’s Day with their children, son Maxwell, 16, and daughter Blakesley, 15, rumors spread that there was trouble in paradise.
In fact, Trista wasn’t there filming Special Forces and he couldn’t deal with the speculation about their romance.
“I had people texting me non-stop, saying, ‘Are you okay? What’s going on? Do you have a mood disorder? Are you guys divorced? Are you guilty of isolation? What’s going on?’” Trista remembers. “I’m like, ‘No, no, no, no, no,’ to everything. You’ll find out why and it’ll all make sense.”
Despite the drama, Trista said she has one positive takeaway: the outpouring of support for their relationship.
“I have to say it made me feel good that people really care,” said Trista. “We have been married for 21 years. The show was there a long time ago, and the fact that people still care about me was very humbling and very sweet, even though it was very chaotic.” (Trista and Ryan got married at the time The Bachelorette season 1 in 2003.)
While admitting that Ryan’s previous post was “secret,” Trista explained that she thought the message was appropriate given the situation.
“If you go back and study [his post]it’s like, ‘I miss you. I wish I could be there for you,’” Trista said. “It makes perfect sense. I wish people would jump to conclusions, but at the same time, I feel it’s natural and people will do it.”
