Five people, including two of Bangladeshi origin, were arrested in Tripura’s Sabroom area for illegally crossing the international border into India, police said on Monday.
The BSF jawans spotted these five people when they were crossing the border in Jalkumba border village and arrested them.
“Five people — three Indians and two Bangladeshis — have been arrested for illegally crossing the international border. An FIR has been lodged at Sabroom police station in this regard,” Sabroom Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nityananda Sarkar told the – PTI.
He said three Indian citizens had gone to Bangladesh to visit a close relative but were stranded there due to the chaos.
“As the situation has improved a little in Bangladesh, three Indians and two Bangladeshi citizens came to Sabroom,” he said.
