“Three women died in a road accident in Dharmapuram village in Nandavaram mandal in the district on Saturday (November 2, 2024) morning. The car in which the victims were traveling was hit by a car which resulted in the death of three people and injuries to three others,” said the police.
According to Nandavaram Sub-Inspector of Police Srinivasulu, a motorist from Mantralayam Ghani Basha – along with his wife Mulla Bibi (32) and their two children, eight-year-old Nazia and three-year-old Khaja Vali – went to Sultanpur. Dargah on Friday (November 1, 2024) as it was Amavasya day and stayed there overnight.
On Saturday (November 2, 2024) morning, they started their journey back to Mantralayam in their car.
At Mugati Cross, Ghani Basha allowed two women, Veera Nagamma (65) and Kuruva Gowramma (60), to share a car and dropped them in Halaharvi village. The two Halaharvi women went to the Beerappa Swamy temple in Nandavaram on Friday (November 1, 2024) to sleep because it was Amavasya.
In Dharmapuram, around 6 am, a car with registration number KA 05 AM 4196 going to Mantralayam from Yemmiganur hit a car from behind at high speed. The car overturned, killing Veera Nagamma instantly. “Gowramma died while being shifted to Kurnool hospital, while Bibi died at Yemmiganur hospital,” police said.
The condition of Ghani Basha and his two children is said to be stable. It is reported that the driver of the car has been arrested.
