A day after heavy rain hit Chennai and surrounding areas, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday (October 16, 2024) said that the State government has been prepared for three months to deal with the impact of heavy rain, and that soon, there will be a permanent end. the solution will be found in the problem of water stagnation in the city.
Storm water drainage work and other preparations have arrived, he said. “Ask people for their response,” said Mr. Stalin told reporters after inspecting the relief work in Pallikaranai on Wednesday.
Mr Stalin said that after coming to power, the DMK-led state government had set up an Advisory Committee for Flood Risk Mitigation and Management in the Chennai Metropolitan Area (CMA), headed by former Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer V. Thiruppugazh.
“We will implement the recommendations in stages. About 25-30% of the work is still pending and we will complete it soon,” he said.
Mr. Stalin also conveyed his appreciation to the sanitation workers and all officials involved in the relief work.
