The Verizon outage is now fixed

Verizon’s massive outage is apparently over, and the telecommunications giant has finally announced that services have been fully restored.

“Verizon engineers have fully recovered from today’s network outage that impacted some customers,” Verizon wrote in a post on X. “Service has returned to normal levels. If you are still experiencing problems, we recommend restarting your device.”

It is not yet clear what caused Monday’s outage. Judging by what private phone companies have to say about such disruptions, we may never find out. Verizon services were down across the country for hours, preventing people from making calls, sending texts, or using their cell data for much of the day.

“We know how much people rely on Verizon and apologize for any inconvenience,” Verizon wrote. “Thank you for your patience.”

News of the service restoration came about seven hours after Verizon first acknowledged the issue, which affected customers across the U.S. According to the crowd-sourced tracker Down Detector, no one in North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wyoming reported being affected. Despite Verizon’s statement, some on social media said their service has not been restored even though they had restarted their phone as recommended. It seems that some customers will have to continue to be patient for a while.
