Gurmail Baljit Singh, a 23-year-old suspect arrested in the incident the assassination of NCP leader Baba Siddiquehe was out on bail in another murder case and served prison terms, according to his family in Haryana’s Kaithal. The family revealed that they have not been in contact with him for a long time.
Relatives of Gurmail’s co-accused, 19-year-old Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich, also said they did not know where he was and had not been able to find him.
Gurmail’s grandmother, Phuli Devi, who lives with the suspect’s younger brother, told India Today that he was arrested for murder in 2019. Three months ago he was released on bail and has had no contact with the family since.
“When he came home, he stayed for just a few minutes, I went out to do some work, when I came back, Gurmail was gone,” he said, adding that “he was not meeting the family and he was doing. don’t come home for any festival or family event”.
Gurmail was the only son of his father. After his father died, he and his mother lived with his uncle’s family. The grandmother recalled that Gurmail had been fighting since he was a child, which led to him being kicked out of their home 11 years ago.
Meanwhile, Rajesh Kashyap’s mother said that he had gone to Pune to work in a scrap yard and had not been in touch with her.
He said, “He went to Pune to work in a scrapyard. That’s all I knew. I didn’t know what he was doing in Mumbai… He came back home on Holi, but after that, he didn’t come back. He wasn’t there. ‘Till I spoke to myself on the phone, so I won’t say anything about this incident. He is between -18-19.”
Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique was shot dead near his office in Mumbai’s Bandra on Saturday night. Gurmail and Kashyap told the Mumbai police that they belonged to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. A member of the gang, on social media, said that the Bishnoi gang is behind the killings and also pointed out that the leader’s relationship with Bollywood actor Salman Khan is the reason for this. The third shooter, Shiv Kumar, also from UP, is still at large, and a search operation has been launched.
