The Council adopted the Mysuru Development Authority Bill

On Wednesday, the Legislative Assembly passed the Mysuru Development Authority Bill, which is on the lines of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) Act.

Examining the Bill, the Minister of Urban Development Byrathi Suresh said that the law relating to this is being amended to improve the planning process for the development of the city due to the growth of the city which shows that it is reaching the population and the status of a big city.

The population of Mysuru city as per 2011 Census is 8,93,062 and the population of the planning area is 16,96,577.

“The authorities are facing difficult challenges due to rapid growth and large-scale development. So it is important to make a separate law for the Mysuru Urban Development Authority on the lines of the Bangalore Development Authority Act for effective management and administration of the authority’s funds,” said Mr. Suresh.

According to him, this proposed law is consistent with systematic planning and development within the local planning area that is necessary for the immediate implementation of the programs of the authorities, as well as the Central and provincial governments.

Although the current MUDA system has 13 members, the proposed one will reduce the number of members of the legislature, he said.
