The CEO of a private company has been arrested for the death of a food delivery man in Pune

A food delivery man was killed after a luxury car driven by a senior executive of a private company rammed into two wheelers in Pune in the early hours of Friday (October 11, 2024), police said.

“Ayush Tayal (34), who was driving the car, fled after the accident that took place near Tadigutta in Mundhwa town. He was later arrested after the police searched for him with the help of CCTV footage,” he said.

The person delivering the food has been identified as Rauf Akbar Shaikh.

“The car driven by Tayal hit Shaikh’s bike. The suspect fled the scene but was arrested again after the police used CCTV camera images to identify the vehicle and find him with its details,” said Police Commissioner Manoj Pail.

“Tyal is a senior officer of the Ranjangaon MIDC and has been sent for a test to determine whether he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident,” said the official.

“A case has been registered against Tayal under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act,” he added.
