A Texas teenager is facing a serious charge after allegedly killing a rival’s show goat a few months ago.
An arrest affidavit shows Aubrey Vanlandingham, 17, who competes in livestock shows with her goat, allegedly admitted to poisoning Willy, a younger competitor’s goat, CBS Austin reported.
Vanlandingham is accused of using a stun gun to feed Willy a toxic pesticide inside the Vista Ridge High School barn on Oct. 23, eventually killing the six-month-old goat, according to the outlet. It is suspected that security footage showed the goat trying to escape from the incident.
It is said that the young woman was seen leaving Willy and then came back to check on him two different times within a period of two hours before she called the rival’s mother and told her that the goat was not doing well.

Willy died in his owner’s arms less than 24 hours later after convulsing and struggling to breathe, CBS Austin reports.
Vanlandingham is said to have admitted to killing his rival’s goat because he thought the 15-year-old was “a cheater,” the newspaper reported in the arrest affidavit. He had tried to kill Willy before, but failed.

The cause of Willy’s death was determined to be organophosphate intoxication from phosmet, a pesticide used to control external pests in livestock.
The mother of the 15-year-old girl told the DailyMail that Vanlandingham did not appear remorseful.
“All this is strange. We want justice to be done, we don’t want to be slapped. We want to make sure that he is punished. Right now we don’t see that he thinks he will be punished and he is being punished. He needs to take responsibility for what he did,” he said, adding that they want him to go to jail and get mental help.

A police investigation into Vanlandingham’s phone revealed that he was allegedly searching for information on lethal doses of animal bleach and methods of poisoning it, according to CBS Austin. You are also said to search for “how to clear search history.”
The 15-year-old’s mother has decided that Vanlandingham’s crimes were motivated by jealousy, not cheating.
“You can’t even cheat if you’re showing goats,” he told the DailyMail. “It doesn’t make sense, so that’s where jealousy really comes in.”

Vanlandingham was charged with animal cruelty, a felony in Texas that carries a two-year prison sentence. He was arrested Nov. 22 and released on a $5,000 bond the same day, jail records show.
His court date is scheduled for January 15.
